Kenneth A. Gelfarb joined The Hirschel Group (THG) in June 2010 as of counsel and specializes in the acquisition, financing, development, leasing and disposition of real estate.   He has particular expertise in negotiating and drafting retail, office and industrial leases of various types and complexities.  Ken regularly provides counsel to restaurant and bar clients.   In addition to acting as tenant’s counsel in leasing transactions for his hospitality clients, Ken assists these clients with their entity formation including negotiating and documenting multi-member operating agreements.        

Previously Ken served as in-house counsel at Manor Care, Inc. Having served as in-house counsel, Ken understands the business issues as well as the legal aspects of transactions and is able to pinpoint key issues and efficiently effectuate a favorable result for his clients.  Ken was listed in the “Top Lawyers” issue of Washingtonian Magazine in the category of real estate law (December 2004, 2007 and 2009). He lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife and two daughters and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ISCS) and the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington.
